I'm out of my depth in a small networking issue and I suspect that the problem lies with Bonjour.
I want to connect a remote-control application to control a headless macMini. The application I'm testing is Desktop Transporter. The trouble is that whilst my iMac can see the macMini it is receiving details of the wrong IP Address and therefore cannot connect.
I know this because if I manually key the correct IP Address I can connect.
The question is, how-come the macMini is publishing a false address? The simple answer is; 'Because Bonjour's b *****d'.
When I log into Desktop Transporter on the macMini I can see that he thinks he's sharing on two addresses, the false one and the working one (odd, for only one ethernet port).
So I added a little 'what is my ip' widget, which can only see the first (false) IP Address.
So Bonjour has got the wrong end of the stick and is relaying this erroneous information across the network.
My real question is therefore; how can a force Bonjour to reset itself, or else delete/restore all network ports so that I can get back to ground-zero with them all?
Footnote. The 'wrong' address the macMini is broadcasting just so happens to be the router address (192.168.2.1) of the wireless router he used to be connected to; I can't let the macMini near the network now because he causes merry-mayhem!
